Best of ICFF 2017: Part 2 – Favorites from Stefan Rurak Studio, Arturo Alvarez, and More

Continuing onto our second installment in our Best of ICFF 2017 mini series, we’re sharing more favorites of new modern design from around the world. Scroll through to see what we found… (If you missed the first installment, take a look here!)

Ooumm (named after the sound you make when you take whiff of a beautifully scented candle) showcased their luxurious marble candleholders that also double as marble art sculptures with their geometric forms. The company develops their own fragrances that they pair with their unique objects.

We’ve been a long-time fan of Pigeon Toe’s beaded light fixtures and were happy to see that they were our Milk Stand booth neighbors! They debuted their latest Beaded Cluster Chandelier in matte ceramics and brass hardware.

These industrial Scarpa Lights by Stefan Rurak Studio caught our eye with their solid wood walnut base and cast concrete “shade.”

You couldn’t walk down the aisle and not stop by Jason Krugman Studio’s booth with these grand geodesic Jupiter Spheres hanging out in the corner. They’re made with individual gold-finished circuit boards and hundreds of LEDs that create a glow from within the golden sphere. The studio was also awarded the Editor’s Choice Award for Best Decorative Lighting at ICFF!

Did you know that “Souda” roughly translate to mean “Oh yeah!” in Japanese? It’s very fitting because that’s what we said when we saw these Sass Side Tables designed by mpgmb. They’re made with interchanging layers of wood and marble in the prettiest neutral color palette.

It was cool to see this diagram of LightArt’s Echo light fixture and then look a little higher to see the actual design come to life. Not only is it a sculptural light fixture, Echo also aides in sound absorption at the ceiling.

Merkled Studio makes contemporary home furniture and accessories, and we particularly loved their cleverly-named “Shooks” which are part shelves, part hooks!

Keeping an eye on new products for @designmilkeveryday, we stopped by Shelter Bay’s booth to check out their affordable modular caged light fixtures as well as their new Connect Candelabra in Mixed Metals finish.

We loved how Frama grouped and hung their Table Lights on the walls – they looked like metallic flowers from afar.

The Conversas collection by Arturo Alvarez had us lingering in the booth with its mesmerizing shadows. Hanging lights project onto black stainless steel mesh that cast long silhouette shadows onto the walls that were as eerie as they were stunning.

Stay tuned for our third and final installment of our Best of ICFF 2017!
