Ventura Projects Returns to Milan Design Week With Its Future and Centrale Exhibitions
In less than a month, Ventura Projects, founded by Organisation in Design, returns to Milan Design Week for a new and packed edition of design, installations, talks and more. The 6-day event marks the organizer’s 10th anniversary at MDW. Between April 9-14, 2019, here are a few highlights of what you can expect:
For Ventura Centrale, a cornucopia of international designers will take up 16 vaults under the Ventura Central train station to present their latest works. New to Salone del Mobile, Rapt Studio will create an interactive installation titled “Tell Me More” which prompts guests to answer a question by the guest who preceded them. After answering, guests will then move into a lounge space with furniture and lighting by Rich Brilliant Willing, Moooi Carpets, Mae Engelgeer, Erik Bruce, Dzine, Sancal, BlÃ¥ Station and The Bradley Collection.
Ventura Centrale’s sister design extravaganza, Ventura Future, brings its second edition of the exhibition to the neighborhood of Tortona. This year, you can explore topics like scent (SOM Tales of Perfume will create a fragrant experience that you can move through while inhaling intoxicating scents of pure botanical perfume) and biodesign (Matilde Boelhouwer’s concrete base flowers help preserve the “big five of pollination” (bees, bumblebees, hoverflies, butterflies and moths) by turning rain into sugar water).
Ventura Future is also collaborating with BASE Milano, a cultural project that is choosing to explore “un-learning/re-learning” as its theme this year. Visitors to the industrial complex can explore three floors of installations, talks and workshops to attend this “school of the future.”
Speaking of schools, the exhibition will also welcome various academies to showcase student design. Returning will be Central Saint Martins (UK), Royal College of Arts (UK), UMPRUM (Czech Republic) and University of Iowa 3D Design Program (US). Design School Kolding (Denmark) will explore relationships between mobile personal objects and ideas of home to understand the question: Where do we feel most at home?
Ventura Centrale will be free to explore while Ventura Future tickets are currently on sale for €5. Get your tickets here and learn more about this year’s programs + events here.
