Fragrance Brand Diptyque Launches Its First Wallpaper Collection
Today we have an exciting launch to share – diptyque, known for their luxury fragrances, has released its first wallpaper collection. The series of ten signature designs was pulled directly from La Maison’s archives as an homage to the brand’s three founders: Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, Desmond Knox-Leet, and Yves Coueslant. The early days of diptyque produced eclectic textiles for upholstery, so the collection is an organic move as the brand continues to move back in the direction of home decor.
The wallpaper collection celebrates 60 years of diptyque and some of its well-known visuals, such as the oval motif, transcendent travel-inspired patterns, and art deco-era designs. Their archives reveal the creations of a working art studio – sketches, drafts, and finalized versions included here are barely retouched or recolored. Some designs are even listed in the collections of Paris’s Museum of Decorative Arts. The richly inspired patterns are uninhibited and eclectic, a true reflection of diptyque’s target of allowing your imagination to wander.
With a large palette of patterns and tones to choose from, the brand opted for a digital printing technique that uses non-woven paper rather than fabric. Not only does it allow for a high level of precision, with some patterns including up to 20 colors, it’s also sustainable. Each design allows for a unique interior space where viewers can explore the depths of each pattern along with diptyque’s artistic heritage. Our four favorites for creating a sense of modern drama include the Odalisque, Excentrique, Mosaic, and Landscape designs.
