Chilewich’s New Cane Collection Was Inspired By Bamboo Shoots
Chilewich has released their newest contract collection since 2020. The Cane collection, available as flooring (tiles/planks and rolls), rugs, wall textiles, and window coverings, is characterized by its tonal hatched lines that are arranged in diagonal arrays. The pattern is reminiscent of bamboo shoots because Stefan Sehringer, a member of the Chilewich design team, was inspired by this sturdy plant while gardening. After he made brushes out of bamboo and created graphic compositions using sumi ink, his works were then scanned, combined, and recombined until the finalized pattern was created.
Cane is made with TerraSand, a unique material made using extruded yarns composed of a fiberglass core encased in phthalate-free vinyl. The product is strengthened by integrated Microban protection, which makes it resistant to stains and odors – perfect for public and private spaces.
Cane is available in four different tonal colorways: Cacao, Crema, Harbor, and Quarry.
