Make a Splash: July Roundup + Music Playlist

We’re right in the middle of summer, which means pool parties, beach days, and backyard BBQs enjoyed with our favorite people. After being holed up all winter and for much of the past two years, escaping outside feels like a dream and we are soaking up every second of it. Whether you’re a toe dipper or a deep diver, make a splash and create some sun-soaked memories with the people you love! Landing in Po Kaew, Bangkok, Thailand, FLAT12x completed the TT Residence for a family who leaned towards classical architecture due to its oversized scale and proportion. The architects, then, introduced modern design to realize all of the design goals everyone desired. The result is an open and airy tropical oasis with a glass-fronted swimming pool visible from all rooms.

Lots can go awry on a beach or pool trip without the proper preparation – snacks getting soggy, drinks boiling in the heat, sun burns, you get the idea. But don’t overthink your packing list or else your relaxing day at the pool will be anything but. Keep things simple. Bring a tote, towel, cooler, and a few small necessities, and you can’t lose. It’s summertime and with rising temps the only relief seems to be finding a body of water and submerging ourselves until we cool down. Block722 designed Villa Apollon as a modern holiday home on the southern edge of Lefkada, a Greek Island overlooking the Ionian Sea. Located on a cliffside surrounded by local, green vegetation and ocean views, the house features a swimming pool just steps down from the living room.

Clap Studio designed a restaurant in Valencia, Spain that represents the restaurant partners that have traveled throughout Asia, America, and Africa and dreamed of creating an artisanal bao company. Baovan features a colorful, light-hearted design that references the partners’ love of surfing and exploration.

Located in Venice Beach, California, the Oxford Triangle residence was designed by architect Matthew Royce, of M Royce Architecture, for himself. Taking inspiration from trips to Iran and London, the unique beach house has added space between the public sidewalk and the actual structure to make sure there’s privacy. An elongated infinity pool runs alongside the house making the most of the narrow, triangular lot.
