Style Your Entryway Around This New Heymat Collection
A longtime Design Milk favorite, Heymat is back with a new collection of modern rugs – Grain, made in collaboration with designer Stine Aas. The Norwegian brand is beloved for their creative partnerships with top Scandinavian designers – like Kristine Five Melvær for their best-selling Sand Rug and Tekla Evelina Severin for their 70s inspired Mix Teklan Rug (we even partnered with them to create the Diamonds Rug in celebration of our 15th anniversary!) – so naturally we’re thrilled about their new release!
The Grain collection uses a unique, abstract pattern inspired by stone and architectural uses of natural materials – “I wanted to work with patterns and structures rather than a classic motif, and I found inspiration in an exposed aggregate finish consisting of small, uniquely shaped pebbles,” says Stine Aas. With no two organic shapes exactly alike, the pattern on Heymat Grain rugs is beautifully nuanced and conveniently, even helps camouflage dirt and dust. Available in three soft colorways – Sandstone, Amethyst, and Granite – Heymat’s Grain collection brings natural tones and textures to your doorstep, giving your entryway that instant sense of calm we all long for when coming home at the end of the day. The Amethyst Grain Rug was an immediate standout – capturing a soothing spectrum of cool lavender tones that gives us major Very Peri vibes – making it the perfect centerpiece for a 2022 entryway makeover. Find the Heymat Grain collection on the Design Milk Shop and read on to learn how to makeover your entryway around this modern mat.
White Reflect Mirror by cloudnola
The White Reflect Mirror by cloudnola is essential for last minute looks before leaving the house. The simple, modern shape is reminiscent of the pebble-like forms in Grain’s abstract pattern, and the easy to hang black leather strap adds to the eclectic mix of textures that’ll make your entryway special. It even comes in black and pink colorways, though we think the crisp white captures the fresh, modern look of the Amethyst Grain Rug.

Double Bucket Stool by Yvonne Mouser
Everyone needs a place to chuck their bags at the end of the day, somewhere to sit and put your shoes on before you leave the house (especially if you’ve got kids!), and a home for catch-all dishes and other bits – the Double Bucket Stool by Yvonne Mouser is all of the above. The stool-seat-table hybrid is handmade of solid ash, bringing more natural textures to your entryway and fitting right in with the Heymat Grain Rug. Plus, its multifunctionality makes it a guaranteed winner – it even has a handle for easy transport around the house!

Lavender Tallow Candle by 54 Celsius
Candles at your home’s entryway are an easy way to help guests feel comforted the minute they set foot in your space. The Tallow Candle by 54 Celsius is a clever, modern take on traditional candlesticks, eliminating the need for a candleholder. There are tons of color options, but the Lavender is the perfect match for the dynamic purple tones on the Amethyst Grain Rug. You’ll love the pop of color and sculptural statement this candle makes in your home!

Wythe 30 Large Planter in White by Greenery Unlimited
You can always count on Greenery Unlimited planters to make a decorative statement – which is why one of their large Wythe planters belongs in your home’s entryway. The timeless form and modern warm color offer a beautiful contrast against the lush greens of your plants, while playing into the calming natural aesthetic of the Heymat Grain Rug. And if the thought of keeping houseplants alive gives you pause, Greenery’s self-watering planters can help!

Small Merkled Entry Shelf by Merkled Studio
This entry shelf by Merkled Studio is a must for hanging your keys and storing mail and small items. Its powder-coated aluminum material gives it a sleek, modern profile and the shelf’s cork lining is the perfect natural contrast (that also helps minimize sound and prevent scratching!). The black colorway delivers a striking contrast against the airy tones of the Grain rug, giving your entryway an architectural look through the use of mixed materials. For added versatility, add one of Merkled Studio’s Coat Hooks.

Little Cloud Tray by Craighill
The Little Cloud Tray by Craighill is perfect for storing your wallet, loose change, and other pocket goods you can’t leave home without. The Cloud Tray’s soft, curved profile is perfectly in keeping with the light, airy tones in the Amethyst Grain Rug. Meanwhile the molded cork material plays well with the other natural textures at work in the Merkled Studio shelf and Double Bucket Stool, while leaning into the mixed materials concept that inspired the Grain Rug altogether.

The Bellwoods Clothes Stand by Hollis + Morris
This playful clothes stand by Hollis + Morris is inspired by the oak trees that cover Toronto’s Trinity Bellwoods Park, featuring three intersecting “branches” designed to keep coats, hats, and scarves all in one place. The stand’s nature inspired concept and metallic center gives it a sleek modern touch that makes it a solid addition next to the Amethyst Grain Rug. There are a variety of metallic and wood finishes to choose from too, so there’s an option for every design aesthetic – though we love the oak wood and white center combo.

Large Bako Bin in Charcoal by Graf Lantz
If you’re constantly struggling to carry a bunch of things every time you walk through the door (me!), having a storage bin in your entryway is a total gamechanger. The Large Bako Bin by Graf Lantz is large enough to accommodate all of your storage needs (bookbags, gym bags, shoes – you name it!) and keeps clutter in check, because the last thing you want to see when entering your home is an unruly pile of stuff. In true Graf Lantz fashion, the bin is made with tactile merino wool felt that brings added texture and a bold contrast against the lavender tones of the Amethyst Grain Rug.
